RT Book Reviews gave Raging Pulse 4 1/2 stars and a Top Pick. "WHEW! What a nail-biter. Schmidlin hits one out of the ballpark in this suspenseful read. It has a little something for everyone: a great romance, a surprise sibling and a stalker plotline that will keep you up until the last page is read and then have you rushing to make sure your doors and windows are locked." Wow, what a fantastic read! The pages flew through my fingers as I tried to piece everything together. My other hand was busy with a tissue dabbing my eyes because of some of the intensely emotional scenes. This book has it all. .. .This book is emotional, spicy, intriguing, heartwarming and at times, funny. Thanks for a great read, Ms. Schmidlin! Looking forward to enjoying more of your work. A tear slipped from beneath Trish’s lashes, slid along the outside of her cheek, and settled in her hair at the temple.
“It’s okay to cry,” Blake assured her. “I promise the worst is almost over.”
She tried rising up on her elbows. “No it’s not.”
“Lie still.” Again, he guided her to the grass. “We’ll get you out of here in a minute.”
“I have to get home to my dad,” she said, her voice softening.
“I’m sure your dad will understand if you’re a little late. Someone will call him from the hospital.”
“I can’t go to the hospital.”
“You could be bleeding internally. If you are and you don’t get patched up, you may never see your dad again. Do you understand what I’m saying?”
She stiffened. “Can I have some aspirin to go?”
“I think you need something a little stronger than aspirin, hon…uh…Trish.”
“I can live with the pain,” she vowed.
“I bet you can, but I’m concerned with what’s causing it.” Man, she was hyped. What had her in such a hurry to get home? The physical injuries she sustained didn’t seem important in the least. He slid a brace around her neck and fastened it shut. “Are you refusing transport?”
“Yes, uh…no.”
He re-pumped the blood pressure cuff. “Ninety over sixty,” he recited to Mike. “It’s coming down. Let’s wrap this up.”
“What if he dies while I’m away?” Her voice cracked. She closed her eyes.
“Who?”
She gulped. “I think I’m going to…pass out.” She blinked…rubbed her eyes…blinked again.
“Stay with me, Trish. Look at me.” He called over his shoulder, “More blankets.”
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
“Nothing. You’ll be fine.” He clasped her wrist and counted beats. “Mike, her pulse is rapid and thready. It’s time to fly.”
